3C certification for AV audio and video products must be based on their functions and meet safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and wireless spectrum standards.  The two most important elements of China Compulsory Certification (CCC) certification are product testing (the product to be certified is sent to a test laboratory in China) and factory audit (the inspection of the product manufacturer by Chinese auditors).  Once certified, the certification is valid for five years but must be maintained annually through an annual follow-up audit.
